Outdoor activities in Applecross and the surrounding area

Paddling through the Crowlin Islands off the Applecross Peninsula Ascending Sgurr Thearlaich - Isle of Skye, Cuillin Ridge The Torridon Mountains - ascending Beinn Eighe with Liathach in the background

Applecross Peninsula sits amidst the steep mainland sandstone of the Torridon mountains and gazes onto the younger volcanic Skye Cuillin. A number of sea channels and Islands forge in between all these spectacular peaks allowing year round adventure possibilities. In Summer ~ imagine sea kayaking along untouched coastlines, camping on remote Islands and beaches & being right there amidst the wildlife taking advantage of the most unique wilderness activity in Scotland allowing you to really paddle away from it all & get closer to wildlife in a quiet peaceful gliding kayak .. or .. walk & climb in the Skye Cuillin or Torridon mountains which offer the most spectacular and diverse mountain activity in the UK.

In Winter ~ scale the peaks at their most amazing time of year in a coastal mountain wilderness. These North West coast mountains are breathtaking. Numerous fresh water and fjordlike sea lochs create a varied and spectacular landscape like no other dissecting the mountains of Torridon, Kintail and Fisherfield ~ kayak, walk, climb, mountain bike or just enjoy the peace of it all. We are only 2 hrs to two of the major ski areas and in a prime position to explore the far North and the Outer Isles.

Tuition in sea kayaking, rock climbing and winter mountaineering is available locally from Mountain & Sea Guides. Full details are available on the links page.
